colombia - the only danger is not wanting to leave!

Seriously, that's Tourism Colombia's new slogan. Well, if it works for them...

Colombia was the final stop in our border-hopping journey. We had chosen to come here because we had heard again and again that it was just opening up and worth seeing before the cruise ships really started bringing in the huge crowds, especially in the north. Despite the fears of parents and well-meaning friends, Colombia was not a dangerous place to visit. Taxis were recommended late at night instead of wandering around, but that's pretty much the score in any city these days. We were not offered cocaine at all in Colombia, if you must know; most of the white stuff is exported, thought the demand for it here by youngsters is growing rather quickly. Funny enough, the only place we were outright offered drugs was in Cuzco, the home of the Incas! Those Incas, always hepped up on something.
